Introduction

Smart Play Network values difference, diversity, equality and inclusion.  Our work reflects our commitment to equality, celebrating diversity and non-discrimination.

Smart Play Network aims to ensure that everybody who accesses our services, membership or training courses are treated fairly and equally in line with the Equality Act 2010.  This means you will not be discriminated against regardless of sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, marital status, race, colour, nationality (including citizenship), ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, age, disability, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity status.  Furthermore, Smart Play Network will make every effort to avoid indirect discrimination which could disadvantage individuals purely on any of the above grounds.

Recruitment & Selection for Employment

The recruitment and selection process are crucially important to any equal opportunities policy. We will endeavour through appropriate training to ensure that employees making a selection and recruitment decisions will not discriminate, whether consciously or subconsciously, in making these decisions.

We will treat all applicants fairly, whether recruiting internally or externally.  When establishing criteria for recruitment and promotion into vacant posts, Smart Play Network will consider carefully whether any minimum or maximum number of years of relevant experience is necessary for effective performance of the job. Such restrictions will not be imposed unless there is a proper job-based reason why they are necessary. All applicants who apply for jobs with us will receive fair treatment and will be considered solely on their ability to do the job. Selection criteria will be strictly related to job requirements and consistently applied to all applicants. Short listing and interviewing will be carried out by more than one person where possible. Interview questions will be related to the requirements of the job and will not be of a discriminatory nature.

The terms and conditions of employment, benefits, facilities, and services are determined according to the needs of the business and will not be based on unfair or discriminatory criteria.

If you are applying for a job and require reasonable adjustments to make sure you’re not disadvantaged during the recruitment process, you should contact us as soon as possible (recruitment@smartplaynetwork.org).
